Four amazing players from the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) picked in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft! The super exciting happened on Wednesday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York The ACC tied for the most first-round picks amongst all the conferences this season. The ACC's incredible streak continues with at least one first-round selection for 36 years in a row now, dating all the way back to the 1989 draft. This year, Carlton “Bub” Carrington, a freshman guard from Pitt, was the very first ACC player chosen. The lucky team was Washington Wizards, who snagged him as a lottery pick at No. 14 overall through a possible trade with the Portland Trail Blazers. Carrington's selection made history as Pitt's fourth-ever lottery pick and kept up the ACC's trend of having a lottery pick for 16 years straight now, with an impressive total of 36 lottery selections during that time NBA Draft.

  • Carlton “Bub” Carrington (Pitt): chosen at No. 14 by Washington Wizards (thanks to a trade with Portland)

  • Jared McCain (Duke): landed at No. 16 by Philadelphia 76ers

  • Kyshawn George (Miami): grabbed up at No. 24 by Washington Wizards (traded from New York)

  • Ryan Dunn (Virginia): snatched at No. 28 by Phoenix Suns (traded from Denver)

The ACC is absolutely ruling when it comes to the NBA Draft - no other conference even comes close! They're holding strong as the only conference with multiple first-round selections for 16 years running now (since way back in 2009). During this time, the ACC has produced a whopping 88 first-round draft picks - that's a massive 17 more than any other conference out there.
